SECOND SECRETARY OF EMBASSY OF TEMPLAR NATION IN THE UNITED KINGDOM

Michael Saunders was born in L-Imtarfa, a small town in Malta (also known as Mtarfa), located near Rabat, on January 13, 1951.
A citizen of the United Kingdom, from 1970 to 1974 he was Assistant to the Purser with the Union-Castle Line in South Africa, the famous British shipping company that traditionally connected England and South Africa.
From 1974 to 2011 he joined the Home Office (the English Ministry of the Interior) as an immigration officer – UKBA and Border Force sector.
Michael Saunders has served at London’s Heathrow, Gatwick, Croydon and Manchester airports in forgery, intelligence and airline liaison work.
After becoming Head of the Immigration Office, he took over the management of the Common Travel Area, the European Desk in Croydon and the North West Secretariat.
These high-profile positions have brought him into close contact with Ministers and Parliamentarians.
Saunders was also responsible at Manchester airport for the implementation of E Gates, which are now a standard feature in most UK airports.
From 1975 to 2014 he had a parallel career as a semi-professional actor and played many amateur theatrical works and major roles.
He founded a Theater company in London and made three professional productions.
He was the director of the comedy “Dad’s Army” in 2013 and in 2014 he starred in the comedy “39 Steps”.
While in Congleton (UK), he took up volunteer work.
In 2016 Saunders retired on the Isle of Wight, which is located in the English Channel, south of Southampton (UK).
Having become a Citizen of the Templar Nation, on 28 September 2020 he was appointed Second Secretary of the Embassy of the Templar Nation in the United Kingdom.
