28/08/2020: The new Minister of Defense has been appointed, he is the Belgian Albert Cordier
Albert Jules J. Cordier is the new Minister of Defense of the Templar Nation.
The appointment was approved on August 26, 2020.
Cordier also joined the Regency Council.
Born in Lesve (Belgium) in 1951, Cordier has a major curriculum.
In 1970 he joined the Belgian Military Police and until 1982 held the position of Section Head.
In the Military Police he served in Germany for several years, detached to the Belgian military forces, and in Belgium, as Deputy Platoon Commander in Liege.
In September 1988 he was sent to Turkey as inter-allied section commander during a NATO exercise.
From September to December 1997 he was sent on a mission on behalf of the United Nations to Vukovar, a Croatian city in the former Yugoslavia, with military police posts.
Also in 1997, on behalf of the UN, he assumed command of the military police forces to protect Croatian President Franjo Tudjman, during the commemoration of the signing of the Erdut agreements.
From August to December 1999 he was part of the NATO police mission in Kosovo, in collaboration with the detachment of the French gendarmerie located in Mitrovica.
From 2004 to 2008 he was seconded as Permanent Secretary of the Belgian Minister of Defense André Flahaut within a trade union organization (CGSP), in order to represent defense personnel.
In 2008 he retired from military activity.
Cordier is currently President and Treasurer of the International Police Association – I.P.A., Belgium-Luxembourg section.
