27/01/2022: Day of Remembrance, the words of President Bonsi
Remembrance Day is an international holiday celebrated on January 27 each year as a day to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust.
The day was designated by resolution 60/7 of the United Nations General Assembly of 1 November 2005, during the 42nd plenary meeting.
It was decided to celebrate the Day of Remembrance every January 27 because on that day in 1945 the troops of the Red Army, engaged in the Vistula-Oder offensive in the direction of Germany, liberated the concentration camp of Auschwitz.
The President of the Templar Nation Riccardo Bonsi released the following statement: «Never as today is it important to remember the terrible events of the Holocaust. According to a report by the World Zionist Organization together with the Jewish Agency, published on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance, 2021 was the most anti-Semitic year of the last decade: in the year just ended, there have been more than 10 anti-Semitic incidents per day. The indifference we are witnessing today is more guilty than violence itself; that’s why memory is the best vaccine against indifference. Remembering is a duty to prevent hatred from causing new absurd genocides ».
