On Thursday, September 26, the former President of the French Republic, Jacques Chirac, died.
Founder of the two main parties of the French center-right, the Grouping for the Republic (RPR) and the Union for a Popular Movement (UMP), he was Prime Minister from 1974 to 1976 (President Valéry Giscard d’Estaing) and from 1986 to 1988 (President François Mitterrand).
From 1977 to 1995 he was Mayor of Paris.
From 1995 to 2007 he was President of the French Republic.
Married to Bernadette Chodron de Courcel, he had three daughters: Laurence (1958-2016), a doctor, who for years was admitted to a specialist institution following a severe form of nervous anorexia, Claude (1962), who was also his communications advisor, and an adopted daughter, the Vietnamese refugee Anh oào Traxel (1957), received in 1979.
Chirac, born in 1932, was a close friend of President Bonsi.
At the news of his death, the President of the Templar Nation sent condolences to the Chirac Family: “With immense pain, I learned of the death of the former President of the French Republic, Jacques Chirac. I wish to express my most sincere condolences. Today, I cry a great friend, a great statesman, one of the greatest politicians in the world ”.
